Islamabad: The Supreme Court’s constitutional bench has issued a notice to former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi in the former Deputy Speaker ruling case.
Details reveal that a seven-member constitutional bench, headed by Justice Aminuddin Khan, heard the petition filed by former Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shahbaz. During the hearing, Justice Aminuddin Khan inquired if the case had become ineffective. In response, Hamza Shahbaz’s lawyer informed the court that the constitutional bench had issued notices to the parties during the previous hearing.
Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar further questioned whether Pervaiz Elahi was also a party in the case and who would appear on his behalf.
Subsequently, the court issued a notice to former Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi in the Deputy Speaker ruling case, as part of Hamza Shahbaz’s review petition.
It is important to note that the Supreme Court had declared the Deputy Speaker’s ruling in the Punjab Assembly void, directing the appointment of Pervaiz Elahi as the Chief Minister of Punjab instead of Hamza Shahbaz. Hamza Shahbaz had challenged this decision in a review petition.
