Pakistani footballer Haris Zeeshan has finalized a contract with New Zealand’s club Auckland City, marking the first time a Pakistani player will participate in the FIFA Club World Cup.
Auckland City qualified for the FIFA Club World Cup after winning the Oceania Champions League and will now compete in the tournament this year. In the FIFA Club World Cup, Auckland City will face top clubs such as Germany’s Bayern Munich, Argentina’s Boca Juniors, and Portugal’s Benfica.
Haris Zeeshan has already begun pre-season training with Auckland City. The 23-year-old winger was called up to the Pakistan national team for the 2023 Four Nations Tournament but was unable to participate due to injury, missing the event held in Mauritius.
Born in New Zealand in 2001, Haris holds dual citizenship of Pakistan and New Zealand. As a Pakistani citizen, he is eligible to represent the Pakistan national football team.
It is worth noting that the young footballer had already informed the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) about his availability prior to this development.
