Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has reaffirmed her commitment to achieving the target of building 500,000 houses within five years. She expressed this resolve during a special meeting held in Lahore, which she presided over.
During the meeting, the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) reviewed the progress of the 3-Marla Free Plot Scheme. Maryam Nawaz directed PHATA to complete the project’s target by March and examined the mechanism for providing loans to individuals receiving free plots for house construction.
She also issued directives for the improvement and restoration of PHATA’s 23 previous housing schemes in 19 districts and instructed that necessary funds be released for this purpose.
During the briefing, it was revealed that under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” (Own Roof, Own Home) program, the loan repayment ratio has remained 100 percent, and 9,661 houses are currently under construction.
CM Maryam Nawaz emphasized her deep concern for providing shelter to the homeless and expressed happiness over the progress of housing construction under this initiative. She reiterated her firm determination to achieve the goal of 500,000 houses in five years.
