Islamabad: Hearing on the appeals of Federation, Election Commission and others related to local body elections in Islamabad and ordered to hold local body elections in Islamabad within 120 days. The court restrained the federal government from increasing the number of union councils related to Municipal elections in Islamabad.
On behalf of the DG Law Election Commission, the report regarding the Municipal elections of Islamabad was submitted to the court. Amendments have been made related to Municipal elections.
The court said that the amendment is limited to 125 union councils or to the mayor? The Additional Attorney General said that the amendment in the law is limited to 125 Union Councils. The Chief Justice said that now I think there will be no need for the next ten years. DG Law Election Commission said that even in the Supreme Court we raised the point regarding logistics and funds.
