Defense Minister Khawaja Asif has stated that the Chief Minister and Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will not be allowed to make independent deals with Afghanistan.
Speaking to a private TV channel, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that matters of defense and foreign affairs are very clearly outlined in the Constitution, and legally and constitutionally, negotiations with Afghanistan are a federal matter. The Chief Minister and Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will not be allowed to make independent deals with Afghanistan.
Khawaja Asif stated that if they wish to deal independently with Afghanistan, the federal government will not permit it, as neither law nor the Constitution allows such actions. No one can impose their opinion on the federation.
The Federal Minister said that if the Chief Minister and Governor of KP want to give their opinion, they should present their views and stance in meetings and inform the federal government about their proposed solutions to the issue.
