India has reportedly planned to politicize the ICC Women’s World Cup following its approach during the Asia Cup. Indian journalist Boria Majumdar wrote on social media that the trend set during the Asia Cup will continue in the Women’s World Cup, with the only difference being that this time it will involve women instead of men.
The journalist further claimed that during the Pakistan-India clash in the Women’s World Cup, the same scenario would unfold as in the Asia Cup. He alleged that players from both sides will once again refuse to shake hands.
It is worth noting that India had also attempted to politicize the recently held Asia Cup. Throughout the tournament, Indian players avoided shaking hands with Pakistani players.
Moreover, even after winning the Asia Cup final, the Indian captain refused to receive the trophy directly from the Asian Cricket Council Chairman, breaking with tradition.
