Islamabad: The High Court has called for an in-camera briefing in cases related to missing persons. The directive was issued by Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani in a written order during the hearing of the recovery case of Umar Abdullah.
According to the order, the federal government had earlier been instructed to devise a compensation policy for families affected by enforced disappearances. To implement this, the Ministry of Interior has formed a special committee.
The court was informed that the petitioner, Zainab Zaeem, had received compensation, which was directly transferred to her bank account. The court further directed that the petitioner must confirm the receipt of payment at the next hearing.
The Islamabad High Court later adjourned further proceedings in the case until October 6.
