Islamabad: The head of the Awami Muslim League, Sheikh Rasheed, appeared in court in a case against former president Asif Zardari’s disputed statement.
The hearing of the case took place in the district and session court, and at the beginning of the hearing, the judge asked if the charges against Sheikh Rasheed had been filed. The prosecutor stated that the charges against Sheikh Rasheed had already been filed in court.
Sheikh Rasheed informed the court that his lawyers were in the Supreme Court today, and therefore, he could not appear in court today. He also filed a request to dismiss the case. The court allowed Sheikh Rasheed to be present by granting him permission to appear.
It should be noted that the district and session court had requested Sheikh Rasheed to appear in court today to face charges in a case against former president Asif Zardari’s disputed statement. Sheikh Rasheed did not appear in court during the previous hearing due to illness, and the police had arrested him in connection with the case. However, he was released on bail by the court.
