A meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) parliamentary party was held under the chairmanship of PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, during which a resolution was unanimously approved. Members of the National Assembly belonging to PTI attended the meeting and discussed the prevailing political situation in the country.
The resolution adopted during the meeting clearly expressed support for PTI founder Imran Khan and all political prisoners. It demanded that cases based on political motives and without solid grounds be withdrawn immediately. The resolution also called for the restoration of meetings and contacts between the PTI founder and his family members, as well as permission for him to continue political meetings and communication.
The parliamentary party emphasized that justice and legal equality must be ensured for all political prisoners to restore public confidence in the judicial process.
The resolution paid tribute to the leadership of the Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan for their visit to Lahore, while strongly condemning baton charges, obstacles, and police actions against workers by the Punjab government. At the same time, congratulations were extended to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and his team on their visit to Karachi, while expressing concern over hurdles created by the Sindh government during the visit.
The resolution further stated that the declaration issued by the PTI-convened peace jirga in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa should be accepted in letter and spirit, and that immediate and effective implementation of its recommendations must be ensured.
Tributes were also paid to Umar Ayub, Zartaj Gul, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Latif Chitrali, Ahmed Chattha, Bilal Ijaz Ehsan Warak, Rana Faraz Noon, Rai Haider Ali, Rai Hasan Nawaz, and Jamshed Dasti for their political struggle.
The resolution noted that the country is currently passing through a highly sensitive and complex political phase and urged democratic forces to reach a consensus on a new Charter of Democracy. It also demanded the reconstitution of the Election Commission in a manner acceptable to all stakeholders.
PTI further demanded the holding of fresh, transparent, free, and fair elections to strengthen the democratic process in the country.
