Two alleged extortionists were killed during a joint operation carried out by the Special Investigation Unit and Sindh Rangers in the Garden area of Karachi.
According to a spokesperson for Sindh Rangers, the deceased suspects were identified as Hassan alias Belcha and Tanveer alias Titar. The spokesperson said that both men were associated with extortion kingpins Jameel Chhanga and the Zahid Ladla group.
The spokesperson stated that the suspects were involved in extortion activities in the Soldier Bazaar and Jamshed Town areas, targeting business centers, shopkeepers, builders, and restaurants.
It was further stated that the suspects were involved in firing incidents and spreading fear when extortion demands were not met. According to the spokesperson, the two men were also involved in more than 300 street crime incidents.
The Sindh Rangers spokesperson added that the killed suspects were habitual criminals and had been imprisoned multiple times in various cases.
