Special Assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Information, Shafee Jan, has said that the federal government is making a failed attempt to shift the responsibility of the operation onto the provincial government, a move that has been clearly understood by the public.
Reacting to the federal government’s statement, Shafee Jan said that the claims regarding the evacuation of people from Tirah Valley are baseless and contrary to facts. He stated that the entire nation is aware that residents of Tirah Valley were forced to migrate due to the operation, adding that speeches by Khawaja Asif and Talal Chaudhry in the National Assembly are part of the official record.
He said that the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has repeatedly clarified his stance on the Tirah Valley operation. According to him, all political parties opposed the operation during the Peace Jirga held in the provincial assembly, yet the provincial government, political parties, and other relevant stakeholders were not taken into confidence.
The special assistant further said that the federal government’s statement regarding the release of four billion rupees for displaced persons is highly absurd. He added that the provincial government had released funds in a timely manner to provide relief to the affected families and fulfilled its responsibilities without delay.
