Federal Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Maryam Aurangzeb, stated that former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, cannot hide the destruction caused by corruption and incompetence during his tenure by simply issuing a white paper.
After the release of a white paper by PTI on the performance of the coalition government over the last year, Maryam Aurangzeb said in a statement that “whether they issue a white, red or yellow paper, Imran Khan cannot get any help in hiding his corruption, incompetence and violations of the Constitution”.
She further added that “the current ruling alliance is the one that has made solid efforts to take the country out of the economic crises created by the previous government, how can Imran Khan question the performance of a government that he himself pushed the country into an economic crisis”.
Maryam Aurangzeb also said that “a person who brought the country to the brink of default has issued a white paper. The real injustice is that there was no mention of circular debt in the power sector, which increased from Rs 1100 billion to Rs 2400 billion during his tenure. There was also no mention of circular debt in the energy sector, which reached Rs 1400 billion during the PTI government’s tenure”.
She also said that “Imran Khan did not even have the courage to mention the wrong policies of his government in the white paper, which is the reason why the prices of wheat, sugar, gas and electricity have increased”.
She said that the PTI government had taken a record loan of 20 thousand billion rupees, which was not mentioned in the white paper, the coalition government returned the loan of 11 billion dollars during one year.
