The caretaker government has dropped an electricity bomb on the public after the petrol bomb, approving an increase of Rs. 5.40 per unit in electricity prices.
According to details, NEPRA has approved an increase in electricity rates during a three-month adjustment period.
This increase will not be applicable to Lifeline and K-Electric consumers. The hike in electricity prices has been implemented under the three-month adjustment scheme.
NEPRA has stated that providing relief to consumers within the existing structure of distribution companies is not feasible.
A detailed decision regarding NEPRA’s approval for the electricity rate increase will be issued later. The final decision and notification will be released by the federal government.
