Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja will not meet President Dr. Arif Alvi, replied through a letter. The letter stated that there will be no particular desired outcomes from the meeting.
According to sources from Pak Alerts, the issue of a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner by President Alvi was deliberated upon in a significant meeting of the Election Commission. As reported by election commission sources, the Chief Election Commissioner will not be holding a meeting with President Arif Alvi.
In this context, the Election Commission’s spokesperson conveyed that a response to the President’s letter has been provided. The letter stated that there will be no particular desired outcomes from the meeting. Since the amendment to the Election Act in 2017, setting the date for elections after the analysis of assemblies is the responsibility of the Election Commission.
It is noteworthy that President Arif Alvi had mentioned in the letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja that the date of elections should not exceed 90 days from the dissolution date of the assemblies.
In light of this situation, President Arif Alvi had invited Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja for a meeting on Wednesday or Thursday to decide on the general election date.
