In the Islamabad court, hearings were held on the appeals of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and Bushra Bibi against the sentence in the iddat marriage case. The court directed the complainant’s lawyer, Raja Rizwan Abbasi, to present evidence on May 23rd.
During the hearings on the appeals in the iddat marriage case, District and Sessions Judge Shah Rukh Arjmand presided. However, the lawyer for Khawar Manika, Rizwan Abbasi, could not appear. An assistant lawyer informed that Rizwan Abbasi is going abroad.
Founder PTI’s lawyer Salman Akram Raja said that the sentence awarded could only be for a fraudulent marriage. There is no evidence against the marriage of founder PTI and Bushra Bibi, only allegations.
Salman Akram Raja commented on Rizwan Abbasi’s absence, stating that during the case, it’s serious when a lawyer goes missing, and the court should take this matter seriously. Judge Shah Rukh Arjmand directed Rizwan Abbasi to present evidence for the next hearing via video link or submit it in writing. Further hearing has been adjourned until May 23rd.
