President of Pakistan has approved the reconstitution of the National Economic Council (NEC). Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be the chairman of the NEC, with the inclusion of all four provincial Chief Ministers. The first meeting of the council has been scheduled for June 10.
The Prime Minister has nominated four members to the council: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal.
Other members include Maryam Aurangzeb from Punjab, Jam Khan Shoro from Sindh, Advisor to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Finance Muzammil Aslam, and Balochistan Planning Minister Zahoor Buledi.
According to the issued notification, the NEC meeting on June 10 will review the annual plan for the current fiscal year. The council will also approve the annual plan for the next fiscal year, the Public Sector Development Program (PSDP), and the 13th five-year plan.
The NEC will approve the annual development programs for the provinces and government companies for the next fiscal year.
