The Election Commission of Pakistan has temporarily postponed the Islamabad Local Government Elections.
The Election Commission has formed a committee for changes in the Islamabad Local Government Law and Rules, the committee will have the Secretary of Interior, Law, Special Secretary, and Secretary of Election Commission.
In this regard, a declaration has been issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan.
According to the announcement, an important meeting of the Election Commission was held regarding the Islamabad Local Government Elections in which the Interior Secretary, Law, Election Commission officials, Chief Commissioner, and DC Islamabad participated.
The Additional Home Secretary said that amendments were made to the Election Commission Local Government Act, the gazette notification of which has also been issued.
In the statement, it was said that the amendments in the election laws delay the holding of elections, and the amendments increase the difficulties of the Election Commission, after the amendment in the legislation, the Election Commission has to start all the steps again, including constituencies.
