India’s experienced batsman Virat Kohli clashed with debuting Australian opener Sam Konstas on the first day of the Boxing Day Test, facing severe criticism.
At the start of the fourth and final Test being played in Melbourne, 19-year-old Australian opener Sam Konstas delivered an extraordinary batting performance, hammering Indian bowler Jasprit Bumrah.
At the end of the 10th over, Virat Kohli and Sam Konstas collided shoulders, leading to an argument between the two. However, Usman Khawaja and the umpires intervened to defuse the situation.
Later, replay footage showed that after the last ball of the 10th over, Konstas returned to his crease and then walked straight to the other side. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli, approaching from the opposite side of the pitch, collided with Konstas.
Speaking with Channel 7 during the second session, Sam Konstas said, “Perhaps both of us became emotional. I was adjusting my gloves when there was a minor shoulder collision, which I didn’t even realize. Such incidents happen in cricket.”
It is noteworthy that Sam Konstas scored 60 runs off 65 balls in his debut match, including two sixes and four fours. Against Jasprit Bumrah, he faced 33 balls and scored 34 runs, while against Mohammad Siraj, he faced 19 balls and scored 20 runs.
