An important development in the investigation of the GHQ gate attack case in Rawalpindi is that the case’s responsibility has once again been shifted. Inspector Tariq Gondal has now been officially given the probe.
After serving his time, Inspector Nazim Shah, the previous investigating officer, reportedly retired. Mirza Javed, the initial investigating officer, had previously been removed from the investigation after being promoted to the rank of DSP.
Inspector Tariq Gondal, the recently hired investigator, is already working on two other well-known cases connected to the May 9 events. The assault on the Waris Khan Metro Station and another case involving rioting, vandalism, and arson at Liaquat Bagh Chowk are examples of these cases.
Inspector Tariq Gondal’s appointment comes at a time when the case has become increasingly sensitive, and the repeated changes of investigating officers further highlight the complexity and importance of the matter.
