The Indian High Commission has formally notified Pakistan of the impending high-level flood in the Sutlej River, according to the Ministry of Water Resources. The ministry was informed of the alert so that timely precautions could be taken.
High-level flooding is expected to occur at Harike Lower and Ferozepur Lower starting at 8 a.m. today, according to the Ministry of Water Resources. To reduce possible damage, officials confirmed that a flood alert has been sent to the appropriate departments and provincial governments.
In the meantime, Burewala is still suffering greatly from the Sutlej River’s raging waters. Currently, a 190,000 cusec flood wave is sweeping through the region, causing extensive damage in its wake.
Several protective embankments have already been breached by the flood, letting water flow as far as Sahoka. Crops like cotton, rice, maize, and sesame have been entirely washed away from thousands of acres of farmed land. The destruction of farmland has put farmers in a serious crisis and presented a significant obstacle to the agricultural economy.
