At their meeting at Beijing’s Great Hall of the People, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed their commitment to advancing Pakistan-China’s all-weather strategic partnership. The meeting, which took place in a friendly setting, emphasized the importance of deepening their special ties and extending bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Sharif commended President Xi’s visionary leadership, which has led China through remarkable modernization and development, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to follow China on its path of progress. He stated that Pakistan is prepared to collaborate with China on this significant journey and takes pride in China’s accomplishments.
China will continue to assist Pakistan in all areas of socioeconomic development, President Xi promised. He underlined that in order to ensure mutual benefit, more attention will be paid to Pakistan’s important economic sectors as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) enters its second phase.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to successfully implementing the next phase of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which includes the addition of five new corridors, and recognized CPEC as a flagship project. “These actions will further strengthen the Pakistan-China community for a shared future,” he added.
Highlighting President Xi’s global initiatives, including the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative, Prime Minister Sharif commended China’s efforts for international peace, stability, and collective prosperity, reaffirming Pakistan’s full support for these measures.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction over the unique and exemplary bilateral relations and agreed to deepen cooperation on regional and global issues. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also renewed his cordial invitation to President Xi Jinping to undertake an official visit to Pakistan next year on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
