The proposed schedule for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka, has been revealed. According to the initial details, the mega tournament will be held from February 8 to March next year. The official announcement of the schedule is expected today during a ceremony in Mumbai.
Sources indicate that the finalised schedule for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 will be released later today. India and Sri Lanka will serve as joint hosts, with matches across the group stage and knockout rounds scheduled in both countries.
Pakistan and India have been placed in the same group, setting the stage for a high-stakes encounter between the two archrivals on 15 February in Colombo. Pakistan will play all of its matches in Sri Lanka. The group also includes the USA, Namibia, and the Netherlands.
The tournament features 20 teams divided into four groups. As per the previous format, the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super Eight stage. In this round, eight qualifying teams will be split into two groups, with the top two from each group advancing to the semifinals.
In India, matches will be hosted in Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi, and Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, Colombo and Kandy will host fixtures in Sri Lanka. Ahmedabad has been designated as the venue for the final, although if Pakistan reaches the final, it will be relocated to Colombo. Similarly, Mumbai and Kolkata have been selected for the semifinals, but in the event of Pakistan qualifying, their semifinal will also be shifted to Colombo.
Other group allocations include Sri Lanka, Australia, Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Oman in one group; England, the West Indies, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Italy in another; while South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan, the UAE, and Canada form the final group.
