Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved Rs 25 billion for the reconstruction of roads across Karachi, stating that financial constraints will not hinder efforts to relieve citizens from deteriorated infrastructure and severe traffic congestion. He emphasized that the reconstruction work must begin without delay.
The meeting, held at the Chief Minister’s House and chaired by Murad Ali Shah, reviewed progress on ongoing development projects in Karachi. Those who attended included Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah, Principal Secretary to the CM Agha Wasif, Senior Member of the Board of Revenue Khalid Haider Shah, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister approved reconstruction work for 315 inner-city streets and lanes, as well as 60 major roads across the city. Murad Ali Shah said he wanted the projects to be completed on an urgent, war-footing basis so that citizens receive quick relief.
He added that the implementation of the Safe City project has already led to a noticeable decline in traffic accidents in Karachi, contributing to improved public safety and enhanced traffic management.
