A significant development has emerged in the alleged fake degree case involving Justice Tariq Jahangiri, as the Islamabad High Court’s order has been challenged before the Constitutional Court.
According to details, Justice Tariq Jahangiri had earlier constituted a legal team comprising three senior lawyers. Akram Sheikh and Barrister Salahuddin will pursue the case before the Islamabad High Court, while Advocate Aziz Bhandari has filed an appeal in the Constitutional Court. The appeal challenges the December 9 order issued by a two-member bench of the Islamabad High Court.
In the appeal filed before the Constitutional Court, it has been argued that the petition filed in the Islamabad High Court was not maintainable and should be dismissed. The plea states that individuals who were not parties to the case were heard before declaring the writ petition admissible, while Justice Tariq Jahangiri himself was not heard before the decision.
The appeal further contends that without recording evidence, the High Court cannot examine the matter of an LLB degree, as the authority to verify such matters rests solely with the trial court, which records evidence. The Constitutional Court has been requested to dismiss the writ petition filed against Justice Tariq Jahangiri in the Islamabad High Court.
Meanwhile, Justice Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri has also approached the Islamabad High Court through his counsel Akram Sheikh and Barrister Salahuddin, filing three separate applications. In these applications, an objection has been raised against Chief Justice Sardar Sarfaraz Dogar, with a request for his recusal from the case.
The petition further seeks that the two judges who were recently transferred should not be included in the full court. Justice Tariq Jahangiri has also requested the formation of a full court. In another application, he has sought 30 days to submit a reply and requested that proceedings be adjourned until a verdict is announced in the related case pending before the Sindh High Court.
