DIG Traffic Police Karachi, Pir Muhammad Shah, has stated that individuals using fake number plates are criminals and should be sent to jail. He said that since the introduction of the e-challan system, traffic accidents have decreased by nearly 50 percent, reflecting the effectiveness of the initiative.
Speaking during a television program, the DIG explained that after the launch of e-challans, some motorists began using fake number plates or concealing original registration numbers to avoid penalties. He emphasized that strict legal action will be taken against such violations and fines will be imposed.
Pir Muhammad Shah added that traffic accidents occur worldwide and cannot be eliminated, but strict enforcement of traffic laws can significantly reduce them. He stressed that the use of fake number plates is a serious offense and must be dealt with firmly.
It is worth noting that a day earlier, Karachi Police Chief Javed Alam Odho also announced the launch of a large-scale campaign against fake number plates across the city. During a press conference alongside the CPLC chief and the DIG Traffic, he said that the implementation of the e-challan system has improved traffic discipline, with nearly 100,000 challans issued so far.
