Karachi: Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab reacted to the PTI rally held in the city, stating that Bagh-e-Jinnah is a large ground and filling it is not an easy task. He said the turnout at the rally itself reflects the ground realities behind claims of public support.
Commenting on Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi’s decision to hold a rally in Karachi, Murtaza Wahab said sarcastically that if PTI lacked enough people to fill the ground, they could have asked for help. He added that political parties should rely on facts rather than exaggerated claims.
Meanwhile, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani also criticized PTI’s protest politics, saying peaceful protest and PTI are two entirely different things. He said instead of focusing on governance in their own province, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister is talking about shutting down other provinces.
It is worth noting that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi held a rally in Karachi a day earlier. Addressing the gathering at Numaish Chowrangi, he alleged that police mistreated PTI workers at various locations, yet a large number of supporters still managed to gather.
He further said that both the Punjab and Sindh governments treated them unfairly, adding that the next phase of their movement would be launched in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from where the PTI founder’s message would be carried across the country through a street movement.
