Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has, for the first time, openly responded to his father Yograj Singh’s controversial statements, expressing his desire to apologize to MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev.
According to Indian media reports, in a podcast teaser, Yuvraj said that he wants to apologize to MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev, making his stance on the issue clear.
When asked during the podcast whether he feels bad hearing his father’s interviews, Yuvraj indicated that he had clearly told his father that such behavior was not appropriate.
Yuvraj Singh was part of a golden era of Indian cricket alongside legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, MS Dhoni, and Zaheer Khan, and played a key role in India’s victories in the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 ODI World Cup.
During that period, MS Dhoni served as the permanent captain, which limited Yuvraj’s opportunities to lead the team, a situation that Yograj Singh later blamed on Dhoni in several public statements.
Yograj Singh has frequently been in the news for his controversial remarks, and in a 2025 YouTube interview, he claimed that he had threatened Kapil Dev at his home after being dropped from the team in the 1980s, while also criticizing leadership in Indian cricket.
