Under the Prime Minister’s austerity campaign, the National Assembly Secretariat has deposited Rs472.1 million into the national treasury after reviewing the current fiscal year’s budget and expenditures.
According to reports, Rs21 million was deducted from the salaries of Members of the National Assembly and deposited into the Prime Minister’s Austerity Fund 2026 to reduce government expenses.
Following the Speaker’s directives, austerity measures are being implemented at all levels within the Assembly Secretariat, with plans to deposit additional funds into the national treasury in the coming weeks.
As part of cost-cutting measures, 75 percent of government vehicles have been taken off the road to save fuel and energy, contributing to reduced expenditures.
