Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s Toshakhana case hearing against him will resume today. The session judge has issued instructions for Khawaja Haris to appear in court today.
The additional sessions court will again hear the Toshakhana case today. Yesterday, the court had adjourned the hearing until Saturday after accepting the PTI Chairman’s request for exemption from attending the court on Friday.
Lawyer Barrister Gohar had informed the court that Khawaja Haris is the senior counsel in this case. The session judge has issued fresh directions for Khawaja Haris to appear in court on Saturday.
It is noteworthy that Imran Khan did not appear in court on Thursday in the Toshakhana case related to the misuse of authority. The court had requested his personal presence on Friday, but the PTI Chairman did not appear. Instead, he had requested for exemption from attending for one day, which the court had accepted.
The hearing of the Toshakhana case was conducted by Additional Sessions Judge Hamayun Dalawar yesterday, where lawyer Barrister Gohar representing Chairman PTI and lawyer Amjad Parvez representing the Election Commission were present in court.
Lawyer Barrister Gohar had requested the court to adjourn the hearing as lawyer Khawaja Haris was busy. However, Advocate Amjad Parvez opposed it, stating that there are four lawyers in this case and they are just wasting time.
Amjad Parvez advocate had said that the lawyers of Chairman PTI are using delaying tactics, and their intention is not to present evidence. Khawaja Haris has no court engagements.
On the other hand, Chairman PTI has challenged the decision to transfer the Toshakhana trial court to the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court had scheduled a hearing for the request to be heard.
