Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s leader, Siraj ul Haq, has demanded that the Pakistani government sever its diplomatic ties with Sweden. Siraj ul Haq urged all Muslim countries to end their diplomatic relations with Sweden.
Addressing a rally in Jhang, Siraj ul Haq strongly condemned the incident of desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden using harsh words. He stated that the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden poses a threat of the third world war.
Siraj ul Haq urged all Muslim countries to end their diplomatic relations with Sweden. He demanded that the Pakistani government also cut off its diplomatic ties with Sweden, as the disrespect of the Holy Quran is a challenge to the entire Muslim world.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan stated that the United Nations should impose economic sanctions on Sweden. He claimed that Sweden has laid the foundation for the third major war and has challenged 58 Islamic countries. He stated that Sweden’s actions are meant to challenge the dignity of Muslims, and without the cooperation of the Islamic world, European industries cannot thrive.
Expressing his reaction to the $3 billion agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Siraj ul Haq said that the rulers are celebrating the IMF deals, but no country can progress with IMF loans. He emphasized the need for self-reliance rather than relying on the IMF.
In a joint session of Parliament yesterday, Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan of Jamaat-e-Islami demanded that Pakistan expel its ambassador in response to the incident of desecration of the Holy Quran.
Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said that nothing will be done with the resolution, which is no more than a piece of paper, if practical action is to be taken, expel the ambassador of Sweden and recall his ambassador from there.
He stated that celebrations should not be held over the agreement with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), as it is just an “American Slaves Association.” He questioned the whereabouts of the leaders of 60 Islamic countries when the Holy Quran was being disrespected.
Mushtaq Ahmed Khan further stated that the Swedish government has allowed disrespect under the guise of freedom of expression. He questioned whether the Swedish government would permit burning of its own flag in the name of freedom of expression.
He called on Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to initiate global legislation at the United Nations to ensure the respect of all sacred books.
