A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) met with representatives of major political parties in the country. Important meetings are scheduled for today.
According to details provided by the IMF delegation, they informed the political parties about the meetings. In the issued statement, it was mentioned that the IMF delegation will hold meetings with representatives of major political parties in Pakistan today.
The IMF representatives stated that the purpose of the meetings with the major political parties is to gain assurance and support for the IMF’s new support program ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The IMF delegates further revealed that today their delegation will meet with representatives of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
In this regard, PTI leader Hamad Azhar tweeted that the IMF team will meet with PTI Chairman this afternoon at Zaman Park. The PTI’s economic team and the IMF team will be involved in personal and practical discussions.
Hamad Azhar also mentioned that the IMF has contacted the PTI’s economic team to seek support for the Stand-By Arrangement.
