The verdict in the 190 million-pound case, which was supposed to be announced today against the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and his wife Bushra Bibi, has been postponed for the third time. The decision will now be announced on January 17.
Judge Nasir Javed Rana of the accountability court has left Adiala Jail. Before leaving, Judge Nasir Javed stated that the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi did not appear in court. “I arrived at 8:30 AM, and I sent a message to the PTI founder twice. The lawyers of the accused also did not arrive. The verdict will now be announced on January 17.”
Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, spoke to the media outside Adiala Jail, stating that the decision was set for 11 AM. The judge seemed to be in a hurry and left.
Faisal Chaudhry also questioned the reason for the postponement, saying it would be clear from the judicial order. “I will meet the PTI founder today. Bushra Bibi did not appear today, and maybe that’s why the decision was postponed.”
The 190 million-pound reference was supposed to be heard at Adiala Jail today. PTI’s lawyer, Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, had confirmed that the decision in the case would be announced at 11 AM in the presence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
Notably, the decision in the 190 million-pound reference has already been postponed twice. Judge Nasir Javed Rana held the last hearing of the trial on December 18, 2024, at Adiala Jail, after which the decision was reserved. Initially, the verdict was set to be announced on December 23, but the court postponed it to January 6. Later, the date for the verdict was moved to January 13, and now the decision will be announced on January 17.
