Federal Minister for Law and Justice, Nazir Tarar, has stated that the decision to initiate a case against Imran Khan in a military court will be made in accordance with the law.
Speaking to the media in London, Federal Minister Nazir Tarar said that the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) should gather evidence and then act upon its recommendations.
He denied that the discussion during the meeting with Nawaz Sharif revolved around legal matters concerning him. He stated that it was a tactic to remove the elected Prime Minister and replace him with an individual.
Nazir Tarar further emphasized that the decision to pursue a case against Imran Khan in a military court will be made in accordance with the law.
He also mentioned that Nawaz Sharif will provide a roadmap regarding his return, and actions will be taken accordingly. Nawaz Sharif will lead the election campaign.
It should be noted that requests have been filed in the Peshawar High Court against the military court proceedings for the accused involved in the incidents of May 9.
In the application submitted to the Peshawar High Court, the federal and provincial governments, Home Secretary, Inspector General of Police, and Superintendent of Jails have been made respondents.
The application asserts that prosecuting civilians in military courts not only violates fundamental human rights but also international laws.
