A new rain system will enter Pakistan today due to which rains are predicted in most districts of Punjab.
DG PDMA Irfan Kathia has issued an alert and has directed the deputy commissioners of the entire province to keep staff including machinery.
Rain has started in Islamabad, the Meteorological Department has indicated the possibility of rain with thunder in the next two to three hours.
According to the Meteorological Department, rain with strong winds and thundershowers is expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiat, Jhelum, Attock, Chakwal, Talagang, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujarat.
The alert issued by the PDMA states that there is a possibility of rain with strong winds and thundershowers from September 26 to October 1.
According to the statement, with strong winds in Rawalpindi, Murree, Guliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Faisalabad, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur and Lahore. There is a possibility of rain.
DG PDMA Irfan Kathia has directed the local administration across the province to remain alert and said that rescue organizations including Double One Double Two and other rescue organizations should keep their machinery and staff on alert.
Drain water from low-lying areas as soon as possible. The public should stay away from dirty houses and dilapidated buildings and keep children away from standing water in low-lying areas.
Heavy rains are also expected to cause landslides in the hilly areas of Murree, Guliyat, Mansehra, Kohistan, Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Buner, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, which may damage or block connecting roads.
