A massive fire that broke out at a plastic manufacturing factory in Karachi’s Landhi Export Processing Zone was brought under control after 11 hours of continuous firefighting efforts, while cooling operations are still underway to prevent any resurgence.
According to fire brigade officials, the blaze affected factories dealing in plastic products, used clothes, and footwear, and rapidly spread due to the presence of combustible material. The Chief Fire Officer stated that the fire spread from one factory to another, but timely action helped save a third factory from being damaged.
Officials said the third-degree fire erupted at around 8:45 pm on Friday, prompting an immediate emergency response. More than 20 fire tenders and three snorkel vehicles from the KMC, Pakistan Navy, and Rescue 1122 took part in the firefighting operation, working tirelessly for several hours to control the flames.
The Karachi Commissioner confirmed that no loss of life occurred in the incident, although significant material damage was reported. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
