A breakthrough has emerged in the investigation of the suicide blast near an Imambargah in Islamabad, with authorities identifying the attacker and uncovering key details about his background and network.
According to police sources, a raid was conducted at the attacker’s residence in Peshawar, during which his two brothers and a woman were taken into custody. The detained individuals are being questioned to determine their possible involvement and connections linked to the attack.
Investigation officials stated that the suicide bomber’s identity card was recovered from the scene of the incident, leading to the identification of the attacker as Yasir. The identity card lists his permanent address as Abbas Colony, Shiro Jangi Charsadda Road, Peshawar, while his current address is recorded as Ganj Mohalla Qazian, Peshawar.
Further investigation revealed that the suicide bomber had stayed in Afghanistan for nearly five months, where he received training in the use of weapons and carried out preparation for suicide attacks.
Police have launched additional raids in Peshawar and Nowshera to trace and arrest the attacker’s suspected network and facilitators. Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing from all angles, including a thorough examination of the attacker’s contacts and logistical support.
Police sources added that more significant evidence is expected to surface during the investigation, which may further clarify the background and planning behind the terrorist attack in Islamabad.
