Islamabad: The federal cabinet has approved an increase in electricity tariffs for commercial, agricultural, and bulk consumers.
According to sources, the base price of electricity for commercial consumers has been increased by Rs. 8.04 per unit. Starting in July, the per-unit price for commercial consumers will be Rs. 77.15.
For agricultural consumers, the base tariff has been raised by Rs. 6.62 per unit. Consequently, from July, the per-unit tariff for agricultural consumers will reach Rs. 46.83.
Sources indicate that the electricity tariff for general services has been approved to increase by Rs. 6.98 per unit. From July, the per-unit electricity tariff for general services will be Rs. 61.03.
Additionally, the tariff for bulk consumers has been raised by Rs. 5.51 per unit, resulting in a new per-unit tariff of Rs. 59.96 starting in July.
Sources also mentioned that the base tariff for industrial consumers remains unchanged. The Power Division has informed NEPRA (National Electric Power Regulatory Authority) about the federal cabinet’s decision.
