Islamabad: Senior Supreme Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah wrote a letter to the Registrar of the Supreme Court explaining the reasons for not participating in the full court reference in honor of Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa’s retirement. Justice Mansoor Ali Shah declined to attend the reference, informing the Registrar through the correspondence.
In the letter, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah stated that worldwide, retired Chief Justices are honored with references for their services. He recalled that when former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar misused his powers in the past, he also refused to attend that reference. Today, he has declined for the same reasons.
He mentioned that the reasons for not participating in the Chief Justice’s reference are even more concerning, as the Chief Justice’s role is to protect the rights of the public and ensure justice for all.
Justice Qazi Faiz Isa has opened the doors to external interference in the judiciary instead of preventing it. Justice Qazi Faiz Isa showed neither the zeal to stop interference nor the moral courage to do so. He has provided grounds for weakening the judiciary and creating his laws. It is noteworthy that yesterday, Supreme Court Justice Mansoor Ali Shah once again wrote to Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa, refusing to sit on a special bench.
Justice Mansoor Ali Shah wrote a new letter to Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Isa on October 23. The letter was addressed to the Chief Justice the head of the Practice and Procedure Committee. In the letter, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah expressed his apologies for not being part of the specific bench, reiterating that he would not be part of special benches until a full court session on the amendment ordinance is held.
