The Meteorological Department has warned that Islamabad may experience another round of severe hailstorms.
Yesterday, Islamabad, its surrounding areas, and upper regions were hit by heavy rain accompanied by an intense hailstorm, resulting in shattered car windows and damage to other properties. Reports also indicate partial damage to the Faisal Mosque due to the hail.
According to the department, large hailstones suddenly fell from the sky during extreme heat, damaging many vehicles. Similar weather conditions may occur again.
Residents stated that the hailstones were so large that they shattered windows of vehicles parked in open areas, while roads and parks resembled a white blanket due to the hail.
Some individuals attributed the hailstorm to divine retribution, but the Meteorological Department clarified that such events are a natural part of changing weather patterns.
Experts noted that climate change has significantly impacted the region, increasing the likelihood of such intense hailstorms in the future. The department also confirmed that a weather alert had already been issued for the hailstorm.
Additionally, a heatwave is expected to hit the region in the coming days.
