National women’s cricket team head coach Mohammad Wasim stated that the victory against Thailand resulted from teamwork, with the team performing well in all departments.
Speaking to the media, Mohammad Wasim said the team has gained many positives from this event. “Our job is to play — wherever there is cricket, we will play,” he remarked.
He added that today’s playing conditions were tough, which is why the team played cautiously. “We won the match against Thailand with a good margin, and our next goal is to improve the strike rate.”
According to the head coach, the team tested its bench strength today. “The weather in Lahore is hot, and we have to consider the players’ workload. When a team wins, flaws are not discussed,” he said.
Wasim further stated that qualifying was the team’s main objective, which has been achieved. “When I took charge, our target was to play the qualifiers, but our focus has always been on preparing for the World Cup.”
He expressed confidence in the team’s performance, saying, “I was sure we would win the qualifying round. The 50-over format suits us. Whether the match is in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Dubai, or Gaddafi Stadium — we are ready to play.”
He concluded by mentioning that two venues are being discussed for the World Cup so far. “We aim not just to reach the semi-final, but to play the final and win it.”
