PTI’s Demand to the Nation: Launch a Movement to Protect Judicial Independence and the Country’s Security, Rising Above Political Affiliations

in Important News, Latest, Pakistan

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has called upon the nation to rise above political affiliations and agitate for the protection of the independence of the judiciary, which is essential for the security and freedom of every individual living in the country.

According to the report, during a press conference at the Lahore Press Club, PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja accused the current rulers of attacking judicial independence to prevent any institution or individual from questioning the establishment.

He criticized the government on the plan to appoint 17 more judges in the Supreme Court by passing 6 important bills and said that the judiciary has been subordinated to the establishment.

He said that the Supreme Court and the High Court would be filled with judges who would prioritize the interests of the establishment over the grievances of the people.

Salman Akram Raja, referring to the case of advocate Intizar Hussain Panjotha, who was allegedly kidnapped and tortured, said that everyone is forced to live in fear.

He appealed to the nation and said to rise up and bring revolution to the country because if there is no resistance now, the people will be crushed and deprived of justice.

The PTI General Secretary lamented that the youth are increasingly disillusioned and their relationship with the state has deteriorated, and only a coup like in Bangladesh, Egypt, and Sri Lanka can save the country. is and can restore freedom.

He said that to teach Imran Khan a lesson, the entire system including the judiciary has been taken hostage and all the prisoners have been given severe punishments.

He said that government spokespersons are openly saying that Imran Khan can be tried in military courts where his fate will be decided behind closed doors by an army colonel.

Salman Akram Raja also criticized the haste in passing the bill, which has increased the tenure of service chiefs from 3 years to 5 years.

In response to a question, he said that Tehreek-e-Insaf will play an active role in raising the voice of the people at every forum including Parliament and various committees.

PTI Senator Hamid Khan claimed that the government was secretly attacking the constitution, adding that the laws passed last night were the final nail in the coffin of democracy.

The former president of the Supreme Court Bar Association appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan Yahya Afridi to speed up the hearing of petitions against the 26th Amendment.

He said that the Parliament has become a subordinate body only following the orders of those in power.

Hamid Khan alleged that certain forces do not want to uphold the Constitution or the judiciary. He pointed out that the five-year tenure of the Army Chief does not align with international standards, while this tenure can be further extended, which would benefit only the government rather than the Army Chief.

The PTI senator lamented that once again democracy has been strangled in the country, lawyers have not accepted the 26th amendment and petitions against it have already been filed in the Supreme Court. We have expressed our determination that we will fight till it is repealed.
