To enhance security arrangements during Muharram, authorities in Peshawar have decided to suspend mobile phone services on the 9th and 10th of Muharram. According to a police spokesperson, mobile networks will be shut down after Friday prayers on 8th Muharram and will be restored after 10 PM on the night of 10th Muharram.
Security officials stated that this measure aims to strengthen surveillance in sensitive areas and prevent any potential untoward incidents. Police confirmed that Muharram processions and other religious gatherings will be closely monitored using drone cameras, CCTV, and other modern technologies.
The police spokesperson appealed to the public to cooperate with security efforts and contact local authorities or security personnel for any essential information. He further stated that all necessary security arrangements have already been made to ensure the peaceful observance of the sacred days of Muharram.
This action follows past years’ security protocols, aimed at maintaining readiness to respond to any unusual situation during processions and religious events. Security agencies assured citizens that all possible steps are being taken to ensure their safety.
