A leadership change in Pakistan cricket is once again being discussed, with strong indications that the captaincy of the national ODI team may be handed over to a new skipper. This development has put the position of current captain Mohammad Rizwan at risk.
Sources revealed that serious consideration is being given to removing Rizwan from the ODI captaincy, and fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has emerged as a strong candidate for the role.
It is noteworthy that around ten days ago, detailed discussions were held between board officials and the selection committee regarding appointing Shaheen Shah Afridi as the new ODI captain. Afridi has previously led the T20 team, and cricket experts widely praised his aggressive leadership style.
The official announcement of both the ODI and T20 squads is expected next week, and the change in leadership may be confirmed at that time. Meanwhile, cricket fans are closely watching the decision of the Pakistan Cricket Board, which will shape the future direction of the national team in the upcoming series.
