The State Bank of Pakistan has warned the public about a new wave of fraudulent money transfer schemes.
New Scam Tactic
Fraudsters have devised a new method to steal money from citizens. They pretend to have “accidentally” transferred money into people’s accounts and then pressure them to return the amount.
Central Bank Warning
The State Bank has clarified that this is a well-planned scam designed to steal funds from citizens’ accounts. It has urged the public not to trust any calls or messages received from ordinary numbers claiming to be from a bank.
Precautionary Measures
In such cases, citizens should first check their recent transactions and never transfer money without proper verification.
How to Report
If a scam attempt occurs, people are advised to immediately contact their bank and report the number to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority at 080025625.
Public Advisory
The State Bank has reminded citizens to stay vigilant during digital banking transactions. Even if someone claims to be a bank representative, do not share personal information, account details, or one-time passwords.
