Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Barrister Gohar has said that the procedural and parliamentary steps required for the appointment of the opposition leader in the National Assembly have been completed, and it is expected that Mahmood Khan Achakzai will be officially notified by Thursday.
Speaking to the media, Barrister Gohar stated that a PTI delegation held a meeting with the Speaker of the National Assembly, during which the mechanism and legal framework for appointing the opposition leader were discussed in detail. He said the discussion clarified all outstanding issues, paving the way for the formal notification to be issued within the next few days.
He further explained that two members of the Pakistan Peoples Party were also present during the meeting. Still, since the party is not sitting on the opposition benches, it does not have any constitutional or parliamentary role in the appointment process. According to Barrister Gohar, PPP members themselves conveyed that they would not submit any documents regarding the matter.
