Islamabad: The Benazir Income Support Programme has announced a significant relief package for deserving women ahead of the holy month of Ramadan by officially increasing the quarterly stipend by Rs1,000, providing additional financial support to beneficiaries.
Following the increase of Rs1,000 in the quarterly installment, the amount for eligible women has been raised from Rs13,500 to Rs14,500, which is expected to offer some relief to low-income families amid the prevailing economic challenges and rising inflation.
In addition, the stipends under the Benazir Educational Scholarships and the Benazir Nashonuma Programme have also been increased by Rs500, aiming to further support children’s education and essential developmental needs within beneficiary households.
Meanwhile, a live e-katcheri was held at the BISP Headquarters in Islamabad under the chairpersonship of Senator Rubina Khalid, where beneficiaries’ concerns were heard directly, and relevant officials were directed to ensure prompt resolution of issues.
On this occasion, Chairperson Senator Rubina Khalid urged women who have not yet obtained their free SIM for the digital wallet system to immediately contact their nearest BISP offices to acquire the SIM so that the payment process can be made more transparent and convenient.
