Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Pakistan will continue its efforts to advance negotiations between the United States and Iran, while also working towards ensuring sustainable peace and stability in the region. He expressed these views in a message shared on the social media platform X following his detailed meeting with the Saudi Crown Prince in Jeddah, where both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and the overall regional situation at length.
The Prime Minister said that he reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Saudi Arabia and appreciated the wisdom, patience, and restraint demonstrated by the Saudi leadership during challenging times. He further noted that the Crown Prince was briefed on Pakistan’s role in facilitating a ceasefire between the United States and Iran, as well as recent developments related to the historic peace talks held in Islamabad.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to continue its efforts for achieving a lasting peace agreement between the United States and Iran in order to ensure long-term stability in the region. He also expressed gratitude to the Saudi Crown Prince for supporting Pakistan’s peace initiatives.
A joint statement regarding the meeting between the Prime Minister and the Saudi Crown Prince was also issued, stating that the meeting in Jeddah lasted for approximately two hours, during which both leaders held detailed discussions on the evolving regional situation. The statement said that the Prime Minister reaffirmed solidarity and support for Saudi Arabia in the context of regional tensions and appreciated the exemplary patience and restraint shown by the Kingdom.
The Prime Minister stated that the people of Pakistan stand shoulder to shoulder with their Saudi brothers, and that the conduct of the Saudi leadership serves as an example not only for Saudi Arabia but also for all peace-loving nations. According to the statement, the Saudi Crown Prince appreciated the constructive role of the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal in the peace process, while the Prime Minister acknowledged Saudi Arabia’s continued support for Pakistan’s economic stability.
During the meeting, both leaders also reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening close cooperation in the fields of defense and security and to enhancing their longstanding partnership.
