Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken notice of the lack of significant improvement in mobile internet speeds despite the auction of the 5G spectrum and has sought a detailed report from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority to assess the reasons and possible solutions.
Following the directive, the Chairman PTA briefed the Prime Minister and informed him that telecom operators are currently in the process of importing 4G and 5G equipment to upgrade network infrastructure, and the process is nearing completion.
The briefing further stated that once the required equipment is received, the installation phase will begin, which is expected to take a few months, after which an improvement in mobile internet speeds is anticipated.
