Karachi: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf has stated that the Indian Ocean is a highly significant region where future military strategies are being shaped, and any disruption to the extensive global trade passing through it could have serious implications for the global economy.
According to ISPR, a two-day international conference titled “Emerging Technologies and Future Warfare” was held in Karachi under the auspices of the Maritime Centre of Excellence, bringing together experts from various sectors.
The ISPR stated that the purpose of the conference was to examine evolving geostrategic trends and the impact of modern technology on the nature of warfare, while also discussing shifts in defense strategies.
The Naval Chief attended the event as the chief guest and emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the defense industry, end-users, and academic institutions to promote advanced defense technologies.
He added that encouraging local production and self-reliance would help establish a cost-effective and globally competitive defense industry in Pakistan.
The ISPR further noted that rapid technological advancements are transforming the nature of warfare, leading to a reassessment of defense strategies.
Senior military leadership, policymakers, diplomats, academics, industry experts, and students attended the conference, where participants stressed the importance of continuous intellectual and strategic collaboration to align with future warfare trends.
