Amid escalating tensions between Iran and Israel, an important petrochemical complex in Mahshahr, located in Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province, has reportedly come under Israeli attack.
According to Iranian media, a security official in Khuzestan confirmed that Israeli forces targeted the Karun Petrochemical Plant in Mahshahr.
The official stated that parts of the facility were damaged in the strike, although full details regarding the extent of the damage and possible casualties have not yet been released.
The Israeli military also confirmed the operation, saying that its air force had targeted multiple objectives within the petrochemical complex in Mahshahr.
Israeli officials indicated that further information about the operation would be provided later.
Mahshahr is considered one of Iran’s key industrial and energy hubs, hosting several petrochemical facilities and energy-related projects. Analysts say attacks on such infrastructure could have implications for regional security and energy markets.
Iranian authorities have not yet issued a final assessment regarding casualties or the impact on production, while developments continue to be closely monitored.
